Kepler’s Supernova Remnant This false colour image shows the remnant of Kelper’s Supernova, the structure remaining after the cataclysmic explosion of a star. The supernova is named after Johannes Kepler who observed the star’s explosion in October 1604, which at the time was brighter than any other star or planet in the sky.
