Warbler Week, Final Day…The Blackpoll Warbler (Setophaga striata) is a bird of many skills. It is an songster, for one, with its lisping, high-pitched tunes among the highest in the bird world. It is an accomplished flyer, often traveling nearly 2,000 miles over open water for days on end during migration. Gentlemen are lovers of many a lady warbler, practicing polygyny that has allowed their populations to flourish…during migration they are often one of the most numerous of warblers, with their bright blackpoll choruses ringing distinctly from the trees.

Also, in my humble opinion, they are strikingly beautiful birds, even without the dazzling colors of some of the other wood warblers.
