I seem to be on a bit of a roll for finding fledgling birds. This is a big one. I didn’t really "find" this Eagle. This one was born in a nest that has been well documented by local nature writer Dick Dekker since 2000. He has written several articles about the Strathcona Eagles over the past fifteen years.
This is the second year in a row that the same parents have fledged three young ones. These are the only times on record in which three were successfully fledged. The normal fledging rate is two.
In the first comment box I posted a shot of all three also taken today. They will have their first flights any day now.
