Nest # 1
When we arrived at this nest one of the eaglets was in the cedar trees just north of the nest and the other was still in the nest, unsure if she was ready or not. Mom was keeping watch from atop a nearby barn.

The one in the nest was continuing to hop about and move from branch to branch, when she missed the landing…I guess we can call that an accidental fledge? As she slipped from the branch and could see she was scared by her reaction and pumped her wings harder and harder as she was heading towards the ground.

She gave 110% and started to gain altitude as she flew away from us, banked and circled over us and safely landed in the field across the street. What an event to witness, the emotion and excitement is indescribable. There were only 3 other people there with me, Michelle, her sister and a friend that has been watching these two grow up with us, what an intimate experience.
We gave her a round of applause for her effort (she deserved it) Her brother flew down from the cedars to join her in the field, maybe a bit of morale support?
Glad to see both have successfully fledged the nest and the next chapter of their lives begin. Stay safe you two!
