Puffin – Fratercula arctica
Puffins seen on Inner Farne, part of the group of islands known as The Farne Islands situated in the North Sea. Inner Farne is about 3 to 4 nautical miles off the coast of Northumberland and is part of The National Trust.
Adults arrive back at the breeding colony in March and April and leave again in mid-August. Some remain in the North Sea at winter, others move further south to the Bay of Biscay.
