“Hello World,” He Said (Dorsal View) –
The caterpillar I raised for two weeks spun a smaller and lighter chrysalis, securing horizontally onto three pinnate leaves. A week after the female moth emerged, my second moth decided to be free and wedged his way out. Forged in dark confinement for 14 nights, I saw firsthand his wings were rust red and he had a pair of flamboyant leaflets to match. I was lucky I had a boy and he allowed me to compare the differences between male and female. Smaller and more reserve in colors than the female, he still makes a handsome portrait. I’m keeping the bowlful of green cereal he left as memento, they’ll make delicate melodies in a shaker.
