Mirando a la torre como está hoy, uno nunca se daría cuenta de que fue casi completamente destruida por el terremoto del sur de del Perú del 23 de junio de 2001. El terremoto fue de magnitud 8.4

Looking at this tower today, you’d never know that it was almost completely destroyed by the 8.4 magnitude southern Peru earthquake of June 23, 2001.

The top was sheared off just above the first level in the foreground. It’s twin nearly came down too.
