Various things have kept me from posting on Flickr the last few weeks, but I’m really excited to share this one.

Domwe Island is the largest uninhabited island in Lake Malawi (5×2 km). Because the island was once connected to the mainland, it has a good population of animals, including bush pig, monitor lizard, fish eagle, civet, bushbaby, and more. There is an exceptional eco-camp for guests on the island, and reminds me of something the Swiss Family Robinson would build.

Here, the stars were coming out behind the ancient baobab tree. The solar lights illuminate the dining area and another guest’s tent site, and the kayak awaits tomorrow’s adventures. Rachel sits by our s’more fire long after the kids have gone to bed. The moment was too perfect to pass up.
