Photo by @ciriljazbec / Hell’s Gate National Park is named after a narrow break in the cliffs, once a tributary of a prehistoric lake that fed early humans in the Rift Valley. In the early 1900s, Mount Longonot erupted, and ash can still be felt around Hell’s Gate. The Lower Gorge is the main attraction of the park. Walking in the gorge is an amazing experience; a 2 hour expedition of geological experience of beauty and function, water eroded walls so narrow that they almost block out the sky, several hot and cold waterfalls, hot water springs, and colorful strata and rock formations. @ciriljazbec @natgeo #Hells #Gate #volcano #Kenya #Africa by natgeo http://ift.tt/1OERTQN
