Badlands Overlook at Sunset – After trying a couple of times I found my way out to the western end of the mesa at Lybrook, New Mexico. The one with all the communications towers. It was a matter of trial and error, and the effort put a few more scratches on the sides of my truck. But once there I had a great view to the south and west. The land below appears to offer many opportunities for hiking and photography, but I couldn’t find a way down from the top. Using Google Earth I found a way to drive to within about a mile of the bottom and what seems to be an easy hike up a dry wash. I’ll return maybe next month when it’s cooler.
