Happy International Orangutan Day! The first orangutans we encountered on this visit were the female Beth with her five year old son Benny, here sharing a tender moment. This female has been part of my wife Cheryl Knott’s long-term research here at Gunung Palung since 1994. To see a photo of Beth with her first baby taken in 1995, go to @TimLaman. It is really amazing to have the opportunity to visit this site and document the lives or wild orangutans over more than 20 years. Photo by @TimLaman on assignment for @NatGeo. #orangutan, #Indonesia, #Borneo, #GunungPalung, #saveGPorangutans, #rainforest, @thephotosociety, @natgeocreative, @TimLaman, #InternationalOrangutanDay by natgeo http://ift.tt/1WFO7fO
