Photo by @stevemccurryofficial // A large banana leaf serves as an umbrella for a boy herding a water buffalo near Kathmandu, Nepal, during the monsoon. Banana leaves can grow up to ten feet long and as wide as two feet and are waterproof. They are used for cooking, food serving, decoration, and ceremonial occasions. The dried thatch is used as building material in some tropical regions. Please check out our current project in Afghanistan: @imagine_asia by natgeo http://ift.tt/1MOJ70z
