Photo by @james_balog Since the mid-19th century there has been a 90% decrease in Mount Kilimanjaro’s ice cover. Left behind on the summit are the towering icy remnants of the Furtwängler Glacier. Sculpted by melt and sublimation (the transition of snow and ice directly to water vapor) these spectacular statues of ice are predicted to vanish within the next half of a century.
