I took this picture some years ago on @natgeo assignment in Danum Valley, Malaysian Borneo with @monikaklum. Go to @mattiasklumofficial to see them interacting. Some refer to this monkey as an agricultural pest, others revere them as sacred animals and they’ve been used for years in medical experiments. I have, on many occasions, followed large groups of this macaque species with their clear female dominance hierarchy.
