• Chasing Dreams (Explored) by Aaron Rigsby Via Flickr: I shot this about 15 minutes after I shot the first image I posted yesterday. I was pretty tired and time was ticking for me to get home for work and sleep. But, how could I continue driving home when such a beautiful lightning display was underway underneath clear skies above? I pulled over about 10 miles down the road from my previous shot and continued shooting. I was just about to pack up when a big, positive, CG lightning bolt burst out of the clouds! I had originally forgotten I had this image until I went back and looked. Sure glad I did! Man, I love nature.

• Cold starry night by Terry Lok Via Flickr: This was an impromptu trip out to the Perth Observatory for the first time. The conditions were perfect – no clouds, no moon, and a rising Milky Way – but the gates were shut! So I ended up shooting a 17 image panorama of the Milky Way rising over the treeline just outside the entrance. Something about seeing the center of our galaxy just puts everything into perspective, even though it was freezing up there! Connect with me on Facebook | Instagram

Photographers luck: I stood on the roof of this mosque at sunset watching the sun as it dropped in the sky. To my surprise and delight, it fell with perfect placement over the top of the dome. #Iran #JameMasjid #mosque #yazd @thephotosociety by natgeo http://ift.tt/1TEM9Ks

• Image by @beverlyjoubert. Baobab queen. Baobabs are massive trees with trunk diameters of around 7 – 11m and may be thousands of years old. The largest individual has a circumference of 47m. They’re a favourite food of elephants and bear the scars from digging tusks. This one also seems to be a favourite of this leopard who relaxes high up, dwarfed by the enormous tree. #leopard #baobab #wildandfree #bigcats by natgeo http://ift.tt/1DiLV2e

• Guiding Lights by Jason Frye Via Flickr: First posting from this past weekend’s trip to the OBX with Mountains to Sea Workshops. Had a great time seeing old friends and meeting new ones. The group tried this location at Bodie Lighthouse on Friday night, but the conditions weren’t exactly to my liking so I went back after the workshop on Sunday night to see what I could come up with. The mosquitos were horrible too, so that certainly rattled my patience. I worked a few different shots closer to the lighthouse and along the boardwalk till I got to the end. Of all the shots (8-vertical shots stitched), I like this one the best….it’s not perfect for sure. The light pollution, on the left, is from either Oregon Inlet or Rodanthe, farther south….but it does balance out with the lighting illuminated cloud on the far right. I hope everyone’s week is going well! Forgot to add – this was w/the Bower (Rokinon) 24mm f1.4 lens at f2.
