As the war drags on, Ukraine claims their military is now in control and the volunteers have all been disbanded. Soccer Hooligans In Russia Are Trained, Organized, And Violent: The Most Feared Fans (HBO)
Soccer is known worldwide for its passionate fans, and every soccer-mad country has its hooligans who get sloppy and start brawls. But in Russia, these hooligans are trained, organized, and brutally violent.

These organized gangs of hooligans, referred to as “firms,” are becoming more prominent around the country. At the European Soccer Championship last summer, violent clashes in Marseilles showcased the professional fighting prowess of Russian hooligans.

Russia hosting the World Cup in 2018 has put pressure on law enforcement to crack down on the “firms,” who put close to 30 England supporters in the hospital after the 2016 Euro Cup.

VICE News correspondent Ben Makuch reports from Russia ,where he meets with some career hooligans. Despite having the support of some people in the government, the gangs anticipate significant disruption to their activities in the coming months.

Putin puts Russia’s nuclear forces on high alert | DW News
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s office says it will hold talks with Russian officials at the border with Belarus. Russia says its delegation has flown in for the talks. It’s not clear when negotiations might begin.
In other developments, President Vladimir Putin has put Russia’s nuclear forces on alert in an escalation of tensions with the West. The US has accused him of ‘manufacturing threats.’
Fighting continues on the ground in Ukraine. Russian forces have attacked fuel depots and there are reports of explosions outside the capital Kyiv. The mayor says there are no Russian troops in the city. Battles are still going on around other population centers.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has put his ‘deterrence forces’ – including nuclear-armed forces – on high alert.
In a video speech distributed by the Kremlin, Putin said that NATO powers had made aggressive statements toward Russia. He also cited economic sanctions that will cut off major Russian banks from international transactions.
