In the context of supply-and-demand that free market capitalism proponents claim to support, allowing the working poor more income and resources to buy products manufactured by American companies would have a positive impact on the economy. For example, more people would be able to afford the services provided by small businesses, and the working poor would be able to purchase more of the services than they would otherwise be able to afford, thereby increasing the demand for goods and services that is lacking in our current economy. Therefore, more jobs because more demand. Plus, there is the added benefit of the working poor being able to live a more just and equal life in our American society.
