“Perhaps there was no limit, there might, quite likely, be no such condition as the ultimate; there might be no time when any creature or any group of creatures could stop at any certain point and say, this is as far as we can go, there is no use of trying to go farther. For each new development produced, as side effects, so many other possibilities, so many other roads to travel, that with each step one took down any given road there were more paths to follow. There’d never be an end, he thought — no end to anything.”

On April 8, 2010, President Obama and Russian President Dmitri Medvedev signed a new agreement to reduce each country’s vast arsenals of nuclear weapons. The New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) is a modest, but critical first step in a renewed global effort to reduce the grave risks posed by nuclear weapons and to chart a path to a safer world.
The United States and Russia together possess 95 percent of the world’s approximately 20,000 nuclear weapons. These weapons are a liability, not an asset. They don’t make the world safe or address today’s real threats to our security. This treaty sends an unambiguous signal to the rest of the world that the United States and Russia are serious about reducing the nuclear threat.
To take effect, the treaty must be ratified by a two-thirds majority of the U.S. Senate, which will be difficult given the partisan divisions in Washington, D.C. these days. But if New START is not ratified, global efforts to reduce the threat of nuclear weapons and prevent their further spread will be seriously undermined.
Your senators need to hear from you! They need to know that Americans haven’t forgotten about this critical issue and support efforts to reduce the risk of nuclear weapons. Let your senators know that a safer world STARTs with this simple step-encourage them to ratify START today.

“What is a saint? A saint is someone who has achieved a remote human possibility. It is impossible to say what that possibility is. I think it has something to do with the energy of love. Contact with this energy results in the exercise of a kind of balance in the chaos of existence. A saint does not dissolve the chaos; if he did the world would have changed long ago. I do not think that a saint dissolves the chaos even for himself, for there is something arrogant and warlike in the notion of a man setting the universe in order. It is a kind of balance that is his glory. He rides the drifts like an escaped ski. His course is the caress of the hill. His track is a drawing of the snow in a moment of its particular arrangement with wind and rock. Something in him so loves the world that he gives himself to the laws of gravity and chance. Far from flying with the angels, he traces with the fidelity of a seismograph needle the state of the solid bloody landscape. His house is dangerous and finite, but he is at home in the world. He can love the shape of human beings, the fine and twisted shapes of the heart. It is good to have among us such men, such balancing monsters of love.”

In terms of love, you’re not in control and I hate that feeling. I seem to write a lot of sad songs because I’m a very tragic person. But there’s always an element of humour at the end.”

we were wanted all along
I was taught to fight, taught to win
I never thought I could failno fight left or so it seems
I am a man whose dreams have all deserted
I’ve changed my face, I’ve changed my name
but no one wants you when you losedon’t give up
‘cos you have friends
don’t give up
you’re not beaten yet
don’t give up
I know you can make it goodthough I saw it all around
never thought that I could be affected
thought that we’d be the last to go
it is so strange the way things turndrove the night toward my home
the place that I was born, on the lakeside
as daylight broke, I saw the earth
the trees had burned down to the grounddon’t give up
you still have us
don’t give up
we don’t need much of anything
don’t give up
’cause somewhere there’s a place
where we belongrest your head
you worry too much
it’s going to be alright
when times get rough
you can fall back on us
don’t give up
please don’t give up‘got to walk out of here
I can’t take anymore
going to stand on that bridge
keep my eyes down below
whatever may come
and whatever may go
that river’s flowing
that river’s flowingmoved on to another town
tried hard to settle down
for every job, so many men
so many men no-one needsdon’t give up
’cause you have friends
don’t give up
you’re not the only one
don’t give up
no reason to be ashamed
don’t give up
you still have us
don’t give up now
we’re proud of who you are
don’t give up
you know it’s never been easy
don’t give up
’cause I believe there’s a place
there’s a place where we belong” -

We’d roll and fall in green
You had a temper, like my jealousy
Too hot, too greedy
How could you leave me?
When I needed to possess you?
I hated you, I loved you tooBad dreams in the night
They told me I was going to lose the fight
Leave behind my wuthering, wuthering
Wuthering Heights(Chorus) Heathcliff, its me, Cathy come home
I’m so cold, let me in-a-your windowOh it gets dark, it gets lonely
On the other side from you
I pine alot, I find the lot
Falls through without you
I’m coming back love, cruel Heathcliff
My one dream, my only masterToo long I roam in the night
I’m coming back to his side to put it right
I’m coming home to wuthering, wuthering,
Wuthering Heights(Chorus)
Oh let me have it, let me grab your soul away
Oh let me have it, let me grab your soul away
You know it’s me, Cathy

Take a look at all the suffering we breed
So many lonely faces scattered all around
Searching for what they needIs this the world we created
we made it on our own
Is this the world we invaded
Against the law
So it seems in the end
Is this what we’re all living for today
The world that we created. You know that every day a helpless child is born
Who needs some loving care inside a happy home
Somewhere a wealthy man is sitting on his throne
Waiting for life to go byIs this the world we created
we made it on our own
Is this the world we devastated
Right to the bone?
If there’s a God in the sky looking down
What can he think of what we’ve done
To the world that he created” -

And my curtain calls
You’ve brought me fame and fortune
And everything that goes with it
I thank you all
But it’s been no bed of roses no pleasure cruise
and I consider it a challenge before the whole human race
That I ain’t gonna lose
And I need to go on and on and on and onWe are the champions – my friends
And we’ll keep on fightin’ till the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
‘Cause we are the champions of the world” -

“Who dares to love forever?
When love must dieBut touch my tears with your lips
Touch my world with your fingertips
And we can have forever
And we can love forever
Forever is our today
Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever?
Forever is our todayWho waits forever anyway?”

Take all that money we spent on weapons and defense each year and instead spend it feeding, clothing, and educating the poor of the world, which it would many times over, not one human being excluded, and WE CAN EXPLORE SPACE, TOGETHER, BOTH INNER AND OUTER, forever … in peace.”
— Bill Hicks (1961 – 1994)
