Princeton outside of Buena Vista, CO. This photo was a lucky accident. I had started the exposure, when a car came up the road behind me. I thought the shot was ruined, but the car actually did a pretty nice light painting on the grass, and it made for a more striking photo.

• ‘On Top Of The World’ – Snowdon Summit, Snowdonia by Kris Williams Via Flickr: The milky way arching across the night sky above the summit of Snowdon, in a panorama image showing the view NE to SW through the sky. After a good hike up to the summit for sunset yesterday, I hung around until the early hours as the skies were so clear, with views of the peaks from the Lake District, the Isle of Man and Ireland, all as clear as day and coming to life as streetlights blinked into action in the distance while dusk settled in below me. As we’re still under summer skies it still doesn’t get fully dark as seen by the twilight left of shot, but its still possible to pick up some good detail in the galaxy on a new moon and clear night. The lights on the cost of Ireland can even be seen far-right too. The walk back down was every bit as spectacular under starry skies :-)

• Cold starry night by Terry Lok Via Flickr: This was an impromptu trip out to the Perth Observatory for the first time. The conditions were perfect – no clouds, no moon, and a rising Milky Way – but the gates were shut! So I ended up shooting a 17 image panorama of the Milky Way rising over the treeline just outside the entrance.
