• Galactic Pier – I had been planning this shot for a while, although I did not know if my final image would be a vertical or horizontal composition. In the end, neither worked on this occasion; however after sitting by the lake all night long, I wanted to preserve something that spoke of what I had envisioned. For this, I blended a shot of the pier pilings taken at sunset, with one shot of the night sky photographed at about 1:30 a.m. Originally, I wanted to include a foreground featuring a longer exposure, so I waited until just before sunrise to photograph the pier again. This is a single shot long exposure taking advantage of a few moments when the breeze was almost non-existent at ground level while the clouds above in the distance were moving quite fast.
