• Some stories scream to be told, while others come quietly, inspired, perhaps, by a visual prompt. That seems to be the philosophy of Ana Blizzard (@anablizz), a set designer from Monterrey, in northeastern Mexico. Ana’s spare compositions spark curiosity, inviting viewers to step into each scene and make it their own. “For me, it’s more fun if people create a story using my picture as a starting point. I’m only guiding them,” she says. Often awash in soft pastels, each vignette is inspired first by colors — say, purple stairs against a peach wall — that capture Ana’s fancy. She then looks for shape, in the form of well-placed objects or a whimsical view. Ana is especially drawn to ordinary objects that often go unnoticed. “I like to look at everyday things and give them the highlight they deserve,” she says. “My photos are like a daily treasure.” Photo by @anablizz by instagram http://ift.tt/1IUEHY5

• Photo by @BrianSkerry A female Leatherback Turtle crawls from the sea under moonlight on the island Trinidad. With a lineage that dates back more than 100 million years, these animals once witnessed dinosaurs walking on beaches and today, in some places, they emerge to see condominiums. Leatherbacks are the largest and deepest diving sea turtle species and make the longest migrations. They can grow to lengths of 7-feet and weights of up to 2000 pounds. Females, such as the leatherback pictured here, nest on beaches near where they hatched. Photographed on assignment for @natgeo. • When the World learned in late July about the death of Cecil the Lion, a beloved resident of a national park in Zimbabwe, outrage came swiftly. But while Cecil’s death has put a new focus on illegal poaching, other hunters are pursuing their own trophies—and it’s perfectly legal. That’s because of another, less publicized side of big-game trophy hunting: the sanctioned stalking of animals that are bred, grown and kept in captivity specifically so that the right to kill them can be sold to wealthy sportsmen. In this photograph by David Chancellor—kiosk (follow his work on Instagram @chancellordavid), caged lions roam at a farm in Eastern Cape, South Africa.
