Is it getting better
Or do you feel the same
Will it make it easier on you now
You got someone to blame
You say…

One love
One life
When it’s one need
In the night
One love
We get to share it
Leaves you baby if you
Don’t care for it

Did I disappoint you
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth
You act like y

Wow. I have to say that I was not exactly anxious to watch what I supposed would be another phone-it-in kumbaya moment (‘One’ is easily my least favorite U2 song), but this performance really was different. I also should say that I don’t believe Hewson just phones it in or ‘plays along’ every time this song is dragged out into the light. It means a great deal to him, I just think maybe not in the way the arm-waving, head-bobbing masses receive it. I recall the look on his face after MJBlige grabbed his hand aloft following the grammy performance of ‘One.’ He kept himself under such remarkable restraint, but when she turned it into the heavyweight love-in, he looked as though he just might lose it. The lingering footage of the Clinton ‘trinity’ is notable here. Look at the way Bill just stares at Hillary as she grooves along, visibly unaware of his attention. Bill knows Bono. they share many interests. I wonder, do they commiserate on any common ground?
